Transforming a Cultural Landmark into a Premier Commercial Hub
This commercial project is a masterclass in modernising a traditional location into a desirable, contemporary commercial hub. Transforming a landmark building into a premier commercial hub required a delicate balance of high-end aesthetics and budget-conscious engineering.
By collaborating closely with Fewer Harrington & Partners from the early specification stages, we ensured that the final installation didn’t just meet the brief—it redefined the standard for CAT A office facilities in the region.
The objective was to convert a site of significant local heritage into a contemporary, high-spec commercial environment. The client required a “stunning” visual impact that would attract anchor tenants while maintaining a strict adherence to budget and durability.
The Petal team engaged in an extensive approval process, acting as a bridge between the architect’s aesthetic vision and the developer’s commercial requirements. With the Line Plus variant in 20mm HPL at washroom level, for example, cubicle height was a huge consideration, with the result a 2700mm plasterboard height for pilasters and a 2400mm height for cubicle doors, achieving a striking full height impact. These were specified in Greenlam’s Midnight Acacia with full height P300 APS in complementing Char Grey.
In stark contrast, Tristone Pure White solid surface vanity units were installed, complete with under-mounted basins. Accessible bathrooms on each floor also feature Petal’s P300 APS in Greenlam Char Grey.
Ground and first floor changing facilities provide the stand-out feature of this project. These facilities are equipped with robust yet stylish changing areas to support active commuters and modern office culture. Shower and WC cubicles were again a variant model, this time of Duo Plus CGL – chosen for its superior water resistance and durability. This time Greenlam’s Madison colour was selected.
For storage and security, 3-tier Action 2 lockers were selected, featuring featuring Ojmar 8002 locks and finished in Greenlam Nordic Acacia. This area was complete with matching Action bench seating and bespoke grooming tops in Tristone Pure White to achieve a stunning result.
Completed in November 2025, the installation provides a seamless user experience that mirrors the prestige of the building’s history. The combination of rich woodgrains and cool stone surfaces creates a sophisticated, premium environment within a commercial setting.
