From an interior architecture perspective, the use of glass has a multi-faceted purpose in any design project, providing a sophisticated and luxurious appeal whilst adding additional depth into a project. At Petal, we are passionate about the use of glass in our premium projects and have extended the use of the material across our full range, from cubicles to wall panels, from vanity units to upstands and locker units.
A sophisticated finish for Premium applications
The use of glass is perhaps not traditionally associated with cubicle and wall panels for washroom applications, but the incorporation of glazing provides a flawless finish with dramatic effect. The specification of glass can enhance a premium project by enhancing rich colours and achieving an additional depth. The inline flush fronted finish of the Elan Ultra system, for example, provides maximum privacy in the most contemporary manner for washroom interiors. The toughened and laminated safety glass ensures a scratch resistant exterior, allowing the cubicle system to achieving a sophisticated yet practical finish, worthy of any premium washroom application.
Whilst a glazed external finish can achieve dramatic aesthetic appeal, the selection of a glass only approach provides the ultimate performance across all applications including areas of high moisture, making it the ideal choice for shower cubicles and locker areas.
With glass rebated doors and options for bespoke colouring, the Elan Plus and Elan Ultra systems achieve the ultimate in wet room performance without compromise on styling options. Additionally, the streamlined finish creates an ideal hygienic surface for maintenance and cleaning, especially in areas of high moisture, making glass the ideal surface choice for changing and wet environments, including shower doors and locker doors alike.
With no compromise on aesthetic appeal in choosing a glass only approach, its suitability extends not just across areas of high moisture, making it an ideal choice for a range of executive environments.
A splash of colour
The availability of back painted glass creates a wealth of choice where colour is concerned, with any RAL option available, meaning the washroom project can harmonise with any design palette. From the striking black and deep blue of the Cardiff Lane and Holiday Inn projects to the natural look green of Staybridge Suites and right through to the clear frosted finish of the Deansgate changing room facilities, many of Petal’s most recent projects have been dominated by the inclusion of premium glass features, which have been delivered to the highest of standards. The Galgorm locker area demonstrates the dramatic effect of adopting a two-colour approach to a project, the results of which are stunning.
Glazing options for vanities and wall panels
An excellent way to add or enhance a contemporary feel for any washroom application is to extend the use of glass into vanity units. Toughened or laminated glass options provide a hard-wearing surface for the incorporation of a wide range of basin options, with the option of glazed upstands also available.
The extension of the use of glass into wall panels was demonstrated beautifully in the Savoy project, where the premium material specification of this scheme included the use of 6mm toughened glass panelling throughout the APS.
